Fall Open House & Back to School Night
Parents and guardians are encouraged to tour our campus, meet our teachers and staff, and attend one of our "Parent Informational Workshops" that will be conducted by our guidance team and administrators. Following the workshop, parents / guardians will have an opportunity to go to their child's classroom and meet with their teacher to explore what they will be learning for the school year. Light refreshments are served.
Student of the Quarter
During the course of the school year, each CTE teacher will have the opportunity to select one student whose work ethic and class participation goes above and beyond. The Student of the Quarter from each CTE program will be recognized for their effort and the home district will be notified of this achievement.
CCS Career Conference
Each year, we organize & host the Career Conference on behalf of the students and local school districts of Southern Westchester County. The goal of this career exploration event is to expose 10th grade students to occupations of interest in order to help raise awareness about all the opportunities that exist within the respective field.
Spring Open House/Media Show
Our campus hosts a Spring Open House showcasing our Media Show in Building "B" for all students and their parents/guardians. Visitors have the opportunity to meet the guidance team, administrators, and teachers who explain how our CTE programs are directly linked to college and career opportunities. Light refreshments are served.
National Technical Honor Society
The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) encourages higher scholastic achievement, cultivates a desire for personal excellence, and helps students’ find success in today’s highly competitive workplace. NTHS also awards an increasing number of scholarships each year to its members.
CCS Car Show
The Annual Center for Career Services Classic Car Show continues to be a crowd favorite!
A free event with trophies, music & food, the show is supported by the Rock 'n' Rods Car Club from Yonkers and provides visitors the opportunity to view over 70 classic cars and tour our high school training facility. Skills USA students along with CCS staff, help run the event and show off all that the Center has to offer. In addition to Collision Technology, the following classes present unique offerings to the public:
Animal Science students sell organic dog treats and have animals on display.
Automotive Technology students host a spark plug changing competition and shop tours.
Cosmetology students perform manicures, hair braiding and paraffin wax treatments.
TV/Video & Sound Production students record video during the show.
Emergency Medical Services students demonstrate their skills.
Culinary Arts students provide breakfast for car show entrants and assist with lunch.
CCS Recognition Ceremony
In June, the Center for Career Services holds an annual Recognition Ceremony to honor students that have completed their vocational programs. Each student is recognized by name, they cross the stage to receive a certificate of completion and various awards are given out during the event. This ceremony is similar in format to a graduation in the home district.
Invitations to the Recognition Ceremony will be given to eligible students and their respective guests in May.
