Construction/Plumbing

tools iconStudents can enroll in either the Construction Plumbing course or the Construction Carpentry course. In these courses, you will learn basic plumbing and carpentry construction skills through a variety of authentic, work-based projects and activities. The Construction/Plumbing and Carpentry programs are also supported by the OSHA curriculum that provides students with needed “construction work-site” safety knowledge. In addition, these courses follow the National Center for Construction Education and Research construction (NCCER)/ plumbing and carpentry curricula.

 Upon completion of this program, you will be eligible for many apprenticeship plumbing and construction work opportunities.  

Course available: Grades 11 - 12

Course length: 2 years

Credits: 6 CTE elective credits; 1.0 English; 1.0 Math

  • Residential/Commercial Electrical Services
  • Introduction to DWV (Drain, Waste, and Vent) Systems
  • Introduction to Water Supply Systems (Plastic and Copper Tubing & Fittings)
  • Introduction to Alternative Energy Sources
  • Installing Sheet Rock (drywall)
  • Taping/ Painting
  • Tiling
  • Siding
  • Windows and doors

COLLEGE CREDITS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Upon successful completion of this program, students may receive college credits pending established procedures.  Students may also receive an industry certification pending successful completion of an industry certification exam.  All students completing this program and passing the appropriate industry certification exam will receive an endorsed high school diploma.  Please see below for college credits and industry certifications available.

  • National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Certification

ARTICULATION AGREEMENTS:

  • SUNY Alfred State: up to 10 credits
  • SUNY Delhi: up to 8 credits
  • Industrial Management & Training Institute: Waive first course
