PROGRAM DESCRIPTION - AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY

You will be able to diagnose, repair and maintain automobile engines, brakes, electrical systems and suspensions as you complete this program and ‘jump start’ your career in the automotive industry. Students receive work-based experience in our National Automotive Technician Education Foundation (NATAF) - certified classrooms.

 Students learn how to troubleshoot foreign and domestic vehicles in the areas of engine performance, electrical / brake systems, suspension / steering systems, and heating / air conditioning in a technology-supported environment.

 Opportunities exist to receive college incentives and paid summer internships.  All students are eligible to earn an Automotive Service Excellence certification.

Course available: Grades 11 - 12

Course length: 2 years

Credits: 6 CTE elective credits; 1.0 English, 1.0 Math

COLLEGE CREDITS AND CERTIFICATONS

Upon successful completion of this program, students may receive college credits pending established procedures.  Students may also receive an industry certification pending successful completion of an industry certification exam.  All students completing this program and passing the appropriate industry certification exam will receive an endorsed high school diploma.  Please see below for college credits and industry certifications available.

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) student certification in:

  • SP2 Industry Safety Certification
  • Vavoline Industry Certification

ARTICULATION AGREEMENTS:

  • Alfred State SUNY College of Technology: first year requirements waived
  • Lincoln Technical Institute: up to 120 hours
  • Morrisville State College: 4 credits
  • Rockland Community College: 3 credits
  • SUNY Cobleskill: up to 3 credits
  • SUNY Delhi University: 8 credits
